What is FAI?

FAI (femoroacetabular impingement), or hip impingement, is when there is a shape mismatch between the ball and the socket of the hip joint that creates a conflict on the edge of the hip joint. There are two types of FAI: Cam and Pincer, but most patients have a combination of these. FAI is common in active people and athletes.

FAI cause pain in either the groin, back, side or hip and can interfere with recreational and daily activities. The good news is, FAI is a highly treatable disease through a minimally invasive hip arthroscopy procedure. Patients who undergo a hip arthroscopy experience a high return-to-sport rate and can get back to enjoying daily activities.
